Interior of a room for a schoolchild in a marine style

Each new period in a child’s life makes its own adjustments to the interior of his room. First, the baby’s bedroom turns into a nursery, and then into a first-grader’s room. With the start of school, a new exciting stage in his life begins, which requires a complete change in the student’s children’s room. Our article will help you properly design and zone the room, organizing an area for relaxation, games and study.

Interior of a schoolchild's room: design rules

When thinking through the design of a student’s room, it is important to take into account that now the room should have three main zones - a recreation area, a play area and a place for learning. Pay special attention to the arrangement of the third zone, since from now on your child will devote more time to learning, doing homework every day, so he just needs a table and a chair. Furniture for a child's room for a primary school student should be as comfortable as possible. It would be good if the table’s height could be adjusted, and the chair’s backrest could be adjusted.

Good lighting is no less important than quality furniture. It is best to place the desktop by the window, and use additional light sources in addition to the main light source. A table lamp for doing homework at night will protect your child's eyesight.

If the children's room is intended for two schoolchildren, it is necessary to organize two workplaces so that the children do not interfere with each other during learning.

The choice of colors depends on the gender of the child. A boy’s room can be decorated in green or blue tones, and for a girl, choose a beautiful shade of yellow, pink, etc. It would be best if the student himself chooses a comfortable shade of walls and furniture for him.

Zoning a student's room

Reasonable division of the room into zones will add concentration to the child and allow him to concentrate on a specific task. Therefore, zoning the room is an important part of renovating a child’s room for a teenage schoolchild.

Study area

When buying furniture for a children's room, the main need of a schoolchild is, of course, a desk. In modern realities, a computer desk is no less important than a desk, but in order not to take up the free space of the room, we recommend combining two in one. Choose a comfortable table with drawers and several shelves. It may be quite large, but the child will not feel cramped behind it.

To store school textbooks, notebooks and other school supplies, purchase a bookcase or open shelving.

Don't forget about lighting

According to the recommendations of pediatric ophthalmologists, to ensure adequate illumination of the workplace, three sources are needed: one natural and two artificial. Ideally, the student’s workplace should be placed so that the light from the window falls on the table from the left side (if the child is left-handed, then from the right). You should not place a table right next to the window - the child is guaranteed to be interested in what is happening outside the window, but there are no distractions in contemplating the wall with the school schedule.

To provide artificial lighting, you need a central background light (chandelier, sconce, pendant lamp for the table area) and a table lamp that creates a directed light flux onto the work area. In no case should you limit yourself to one lamp - only multidirectional light will minimize eye strain and the risk of decreased visual acuity.

Game Zone

This is an essential part of a first grader’s room. Schoolchildren continue to play until grades 5-7, so it is impossible to deprive the child of sufficient space to play. It’s good if the play area has a soft and pleasant floor covering, where the child can calmly fantasize and play right on the floor. Also read our article on choosing a carpet for a children's room.

Note: Of course, in a high school student’s room it is no longer advisable to allocate space for a play area. But here it should be remembered that during the training the interior of the nursery will change to one degree or another two, or even three times. Therefore, in the future you can always change the playing area to a sports corner with a wall bars and a horizontal bar.

Stylish ideas for a small room

Ideas for planning a small room can be suggested by photographs of interiors.

Small children like to sleep on the second tier of the bed. Use this idea. In a small room you can set up a play area under the bed.

Choose soothing colors to decorate your children's room. Create bright accents using wall decor or textiles (curtains, pillows, fabric ottoman).

Try not to overdo it in interior design. Leave some free space. Surely the child will have favorite things that he will want to place in a prominent place.

Take care of your baby's safety. Try to avoid sharp corners and glass surfaces.

Rest zone

Even if the main part of the children's room is decorated in bright colors, use softer, calmer and warmer colors to decorate the recreation area. Grass green, beige, sky blue, etc. are perfect.

In a children's room for two schoolchildren, you can install a bunk bed or two separate beds.

The photo shows that even in a children's room for one schoolchild, you can use the option with a bunk bed. In this case, the “ground floor” serves as a sofa or a play corner.

Color – as an “anchor” of mood

Girls at the age of 7 are still delighted with pink tones, which they involuntarily associate with princesses and fairies. But a room for a young schoolgirl, decorated entirely in this color, is not the best option. Such a decision is more likely to relax than to promote composure and independence.

For the basic color of the nursery, it is better to choose shades of yellow, lilac or green. If a girl still wants to become the owner of a pink room, then try to choose light colors or “dilute” them with white.

The color of the interior is the key to a child’s good mood and a stimulator of the nervous system. So, if for a boy the soothing shades of blue and green are preferable in design, then for a girl warm colors are associated with comfort and reliability.

Don't forget about the child's temperament. For a calm, girlish nature, a combination of red and white can become depressing, but peach tones will appeal. And for a keen, dynamic personality, bright accents on a neutral background are suitable.

Children's room: future schoolgirl's room

Nikolai's story from Minsk:

— The children's room belongs to my daughter, she is six 6 years old. This September she will cross the threshold of school for the first time and become a first-grader. Therefore, when arranging the nursery, the task was set to create a playroom and at the same time - an educational “laboratory”. The room had to accommodate numerous toys, as well as textbooks, notebooks, and school supplies.

A special feature of the room is a stand that separates the sofa from the bed and makes the sleeping area, as it seems to us, more comfortable.

In the children's room there is a separate closet for toys - as it turned out, very useful.

I can’t help but note the open shelves for toys and books. Now you can collect and update your children's library, since the child loves to read and there is now enough space for books.

In the corner of the room there is a bed with an orthopedic mattress, on which it is comfortable to sleep for both a child and an adult.

And, of course, we made sure that our daughter had a large desk where she could read, draw, and draw.

We also thought about closed shelves under the tabletop. Someday there will be a microscope, a globe and other educational objects that will be useful for research by a future schoolgirl.

In the corner of the room, near the door, there is a spacious wardrobe for children's clothes. It consists of two sections. One is intended for outerwear, the other (consists of shelves and cupboards) for underwear. One door is mirrored, the second is sandblasted.

The wallpaper is blue (we glued it ourselves). My daughter chose them herself, and we supported her.

There is linoleum on the floor (when we change the flooring in the entire apartment, we will also replace it in the nursery). The green carpet is also a personal choice of the daughter. Reminds her of a summer meadow on cold winter days. The gray carpet is Turkish, half-wool, very soft to the touch.

The ceiling is glossy white (also my daughter’s “order”). Overall, we just trust her choices a lot.

The chandelier consists of eight arms on flexible legs with multi-colored shades, which makes it easy to change the configuration.

My daughter enjoys dancing and is very active, so we tried to keep as much free space as possible. We used our daughter’s favorite colors (one of her favorites is white). To combine with white, green, blue, and yellow were used.

I wanted the room to be cozy, warm, bright, and at the same time tender, soft.

The budget was limited, but we really hoped that our daughter would like it. Our hopes were justified: she was satisfied.

Estimate (in dollars):

— Custom furniture — 2 thousand 400. — Sofa — 400. — Bed — 300. — Mattress and pillow — 200. — Armchair — 70. — Chandelier — 200. — Carpets — 200. — Wallpaper — 130. — Ceiling — 210. .

Furniture for a girl's nursery

A complete standard furniture set for a girl includes a bed, wardrobe, bookcases, bookshelves, bedside tables, table, chest of drawers, chairs, ottomans, dressing table. Depending on the size of the room and the age of the child, this set is adjusted, choosing the most necessary things.

Children's furniture, as well as finishing materials, must be selected based on the criteria of environmental friendliness, reliability, and sustainability. Furniture should not be a source of formaldehyde or other toxic substances. In this regard, products made from natural wood, metal, and MDF benefit.

Colored furniture is often chosen for children's rooms. When deciding on this choice, you should remember that in the future, if you want to change the design, the furniture set may not fit into the new interior of the children's room. A complete change of decor is more expensive than wallpapering. If this fact does not frighten you, then you can safely consider colored or painted cabinets and tables.

White and beige furniture for a children's bedroom is much more versatile and practical. It is easy to beat it in any design.

Factors influencing the design of a girl's room

Of course, the main factor determining the decor of a girl’s room will be her age. After all, it is he who determines not only the skills and preferences of the little housewife, but also the girl’s very lifestyle. But there are many factors, in addition to age, that have no less influence on the choice of children's room design. The size and shape of the room directly dictate not only the choice, quantity and arrangement of furniture, but also the color palette in general, and specific combinations of shades in particular.

The number and size of windows and doorways will also affect the choice of furnishings for a girl’s room. The location of the room relative to the cardinal points is no less important - both factors affect the level of natural light in the room, and therefore the choice of interior color palette.

The composition of the interior items in a children's room will be influenced by the girl's character, her temperament, hobbies and abilities, passions and level of involvement in a particular process. Obviously, a schoolgirl’s room will differ significantly in the composition of its interior items from a room for a baby. Or a child's room for an active, athletic lady from a room for a young dreamer with a romantic character.

Another important aspect of planning renovations in the girls’ room is the number of housewives themselves. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to simply multiply the number of sleeping and work places (creative corners) by two if the girls have a large age difference - a preschooler needs a lot of free space for active games, and a teenager needs to organize an ergonomic work place and the opportunity to be in privacy in room that you have to share with your sister. At first glance, the task is overwhelming. Some design techniques help maintain autonomy for each housewife within a common space, but more on that a little later.
