Checking the serviceability of a repaired unit of any device in a workshop consists of installing it on the appropriate control stand instead of a removed similar reference unit and obtaining satisfactory test results in operation. The workshop has three sections: repair of electronic navigation devices; repair of nautical instruments; testing and monitoring of instruments (laboratory), including a climate chamber .

There are also auxiliary rooms (aggregate room, storage room for materials, tools and spare parts) with an area of 8-12% of the total area of the workshop.

All work in the first section is carried out in one room with an area of 50-65 m without partitions. Only when repairing mercury logs, to ensure labor safety, is a fence installed.

In addition, a shaft for the logs is provided with clinkets for receiving pipes of different diameters, corresponding to various types of logs being repaired. The log shaft, as well as the echo sounder vibrators, are located closer to the midships of the workshop vessel.

Among electrical navigation devices, mercury logs must be repaired in a ventilated enclosure with an area of 7-10 m.

The second section is located in two separate rooms with an area of 12-15 and 18-25 m, respectively, since magnetic compasses are not allowed in the time meter repair room.
