Bathroom sink height: standard

At what height is a bathroom sink hung?

A washbasin is a sanitary product for daily use, so the height of the sink from the floor in the bathroom should be comfortable for its owners.

The main differences between shells are their sizes, shapes, textures, shades and methods of fastening. A big mistake is made by those who, in the race for an exclusive interior, sacrifice the functionality of the equipment. Stylistics will become boring over time, but practicality is always required. In addition, the width and depth of the sink must fit into the dimensions of the room.

To ensure that the installation height of the sink from the floor is ideal, it is worth taking measurements in the bathroom before purchasing plumbing equipment. Experts even recommend drawing a plan diagram, sticking to scale. The schematic design should take into account all the items that are supposed to be installed in the bathroom, including the sink. This approach will help you make the right decision regarding the size and level of the sink.

Sink selection

Such a question as the height of installation of a washbasin in the bathroom is problematic in those families where children of different ages are raised. Who should adjust the washbasin to if it will be used by people of different heights?

In fact, there are special standards that regulate the installation of sinks in height for various institutions (kindergarten, school, hospital).

The height of installation of a sink in a bathroom for use by adults is determined by the standards at 80 cm to the side. For teenagers, the height is seventy centimeters, for children – sixty centimeters.

But in an ordinary apartment, you cannot install a sink for everyone, so most often it is placed at a height of 75-80 cm from the flooring to the side. This size is not approved or mandatory and can vary at the request of the owners of the plumbing fixtures.

If the washbasin model allows it, the installation level of the sink can be adjusted. This applies to wall-hung washbasins that are mounted to the wall using brackets or other fastening devices.

The height of bathroom vanities and pedestal-mounted tulip sinks cannot be adjusted. The manufacturers of these products take as a basis the standard height of the bathroom sink from the floor of 80-85 centimeters.

In addition to the usual tulip-type sinks, with a cabinet and a wall-hung one, there is a fourth version of the sink: with adjustable height. In this case, the dilemma at what height to install the sink in the bathroom does not require drastic decisions, because the parameters can be adjusted. However, such a model is not cheap and is quite complex from an engineering point of view. Therefore, such a shell specimen is not found often.

Washbasin area

When deciding what the height of the bathroom sink should be, people are usually concerned with the issue of convenience. After all, you need to wash your face, wash your hands and brush your teeth every day and even more than once. No one wants to experience discomfort when performing these procedures.

Another important factor depends on what the height of the sink in the bathroom should be - the height of the mirror, which, as a rule, forms a single composition with the washbasin.

The mirror can be a separate element or connected to shelves or a cabinet for storing cosmetics. The level of the mirror directly depends on the height at which the sink is located in the bathroom. The standard recommendation suggests 120-135 cm. And, despite the fact that a large mirror looks advantageous and even decorates the bathroom, many people hang a small mirror right at eye level. This choice is made by people who do not want to constantly wipe the mirror surface from water drops.

Using the space under the sink

You can live quite comfortably in a small apartment if you use the space wisely. An example would be installing a washing machine in a cabinet under the sink. With such an original solution, the installation height of the sink in the bathroom must exceed the standard value. The mounting height of the sink in the bathroom is taken to be about 100 centimeters.

Without certain skills, it is quite difficult to perform such installation and determine the exact height. It is better to entrust this question to plumbing specialists, who will decide at what level the sink in the bathroom will be located in a particular case.

If solving the problem of at what height to hang a bathroom sink seems too difficult, this is also a reason to call a trusted professional. Having assessed the features of the bathroom, the professional will suggest the appropriate level for installing the equipment. In order for the sink to serve for a long time and work without problems, it is important to take into account all the nuances: correct connection to the sewer system, placement of the siphon, etc.

For a small bathroom or a room with dense placement of additional equipment, sometimes it does not matter what the usual height of the bathroom sink is. It is important how to fit a washbasin into the existing space, without violating safety standards and other incidents, such as damage to earthenware or expensive plastic.

sizes and distances

Designers, doctors and manufacturers of bathroom equipment have long paid attention to bathroom ergonomics . The results of numerous studies have made it possible to determine the sizes of equipment suitable for 90% of people and its rational placement. The remaining 10%, who have larger dimensions, have to either endure the inconvenience or increase the numbers by purchasing larger showers and leaving more space between the elements of the bathroom.

Unfortunately, bathrooms are often so small that ergonomics can only be a dream. However, it is worth at least approximately adhering to the rules, taking into account the available opportunities. Ideally, 75 cm of free space should be left between each piece of plumbing equipment, as well as between the equipment and the wall/door.

This does not apply to toilets and bidets. The distance between the toilet and the bidet should be approximately 35 to 45 cm . If you leave a long distance, it can be inconvenient.

The distance from the shower stall or from the bathtub to the sink can also be reduced to 30 cm , but no less than that. The washbasin bowl should be above the floor at a height of 80-110 cm . Ideally, 90 cm, unless, of course, the bathtub is used by people of average height.

The height of the washbasin
The height of the countertop of bathroom furniture (tables, cabinets, chests of drawers, sinks, etc.) should be the same in principle

If children do not have their own bathroom, you need to take care of a comfortable bench so that the child can easily perform hygiene procedures while looking at his reflection in the mirror.

When washing at the sink, a person bends over, which means that there should be enough space in front of the sink for this. You cannot install a washbasin in a tight nook if there is no free space of at least 55 cm .

However, there should be enough space so that a person, when washing his face and brushing his teeth, does not rest his elbows on the walls.

As for the toilet , there should be at least 35-45 cm - no matter whether there are walls or other pieces of equipment. There should be at least 50 cm in front of the toilet , regardless of what is located there - a door, a shower stall or a sink.

Distance from toilet

It is better if at least 75 cm is left in front of the toilet . If this is a toilet stall , then its average size should be 168 by 92 cm .

The toilet paper holder should be mounted slightly in front of the edge of the toilet (20-30 cm) . The height of the toilet paper holder from the floor is 60-70 cm .

If a stationary shower corner , then its size must be at least 75 by 75 cm , and this is provided that people of average build will take a shower. Ideally, a shower corner or shower stall should be at least 90 by 90 cm .

Installation height of a bathroom sink - standard, GOST standards and installation recommendations

At what height is a bathroom sink hung?

When arranging the bathroom of our own apartment or house, we are often interested in the aesthetic side of the issue, without forgetting about convenience. The design process of this important room is complicated by its small size and increased functional load.

To simplify the placement of the necessary plumbing and appliances during the USSR, various GOSTs and SNiPs were developed, which clearly regulated at what height to hang the sink in the bathroom, where to install the toilet or sink.

Bathroom sink height

Plumbing installed in the bathroom not only has a high functional load, but is also important from the point of view of aesthetic appeal. Proper design of the bathroom is complicated by its small area and the peculiarities of the communication lines.

In order to facilitate the task, SNiPs were developed back in the last century that regulated the location and height of installation of plumbing fixtures, including sinks in the bathroom. Currently, apartment owners and developers view standards as recommendations and equip premises without strict adherence to regulations. However, the question of the optimal sink level remains relevant to this day.

Bathroom sink height standards according to SNiP

Despite the differences in mounting (wall-mounted, mortise-mounted, stand), when installing a sink, the distance from the floor to the top of the bowl must be taken into account. The parameter directly affects the comfort of users: if the device is placed too low, then an excessive load will be created on the back, and if it is too high, then the child will not be able to use it.

In accordance with SNiP 3.05.01-85, developed back in 1985, the height from the floor to the top edge of the device should be 85 cm. Moreover, the standards allow a 20 mm deviation from the designated value.

By installing your washbasin in compliance with regulations, connecting it to the water supply and drain will be an easy task. Don't forget about additional equipment that requires enough space.

The standards concern not only the height of the sink to the floor, but also the distance from it to other objects located in the bathroom. Thus, SNiP identifies the minimum permissible distances from the sink to:

  • sockets, heated towel rail – 60 cm;
  • side wall, bottom of the mirror – 20 cm;
  • baths, shower stalls – 30 cm;
  • toilet, bidet – 25 cm;
  • objects located in front of the washbasin - 70 cm (with a built-in sink - 90 cm).

The researchers who created these standards relied on the average height of people. Thanks to data analysis, the following results were obtained:

  • the most comfortable location of the washbasin for women is a distance of 80-92 cm from the floor;
  • for men, the washing level should not be less than 85 cm and exceed 102 cm.

How to choose a color

The choice of colors depends on the features of the interior and your own color preferences. For bathrooms, the most popular shades are blue and white.

If, when choosing, you are guided by interior design, then there may be much more options. For example, in a high-tech style bathroom, dark colors or metallics will look good, while for minimalism it is better to stick to neutral gray and beige tones.

How to choose bathroom furniture

For Provence or country style, muted bright colors are good (turquoise, terracotta, bottle green, lavender and others). In this case, the effect of abrasion on the doors and walls, as well as decoratively aged metal fittings, will look good. In classic interiors, natural wood shades are good.

If the mirror occupies the entire façade of the cabinet, then there is no need to carefully select the color of the walls. In this case, you can choose colors that will set off the main colors of the finish. In addition, you can purchase curtains, rugs and other accessories to match the cabinet. Another option is to focus not on the main tone, but on the color of the rest of the furniture in the room. In this case, you can choose a similar shade or play with contrast.

If you are renovating your bathroom from scratch, it is much easier to immediately order all the furniture that is harmonious in color and style. The bathroom furniture set includes a cabinet with a sink, a cabinet with a mirror, and a boudoir table, if the room allows. By purchasing all pieces of furniture and accessories at the same time, it is much easier to “get into” the style and avoid annoying mistakes when the selected colors are incompatible.

How to choose the right mirror cabinet

At what height should you install the sink in the bathroom for the convenience of all family members?

At what height is a bathroom sink hung?

Proper placement of plumbing fixtures in the bathroom is an important criterion for comfort. The main parameters are taken into account when planning the premises at the design project development stage. One of the key issues is the height of the bathroom sink. After all, all family members are usually of different heights. Let's consider how to maintain a balance of interests and provide conditions for convenient operation of plumbing fixtures.

Types of washbasins ↑

Washbasins are of the following types:

  • on a pedestal ("tulip" type);
  • hanging;
  • with a cabinet;
  • with adjustable height.

The latter option is very rare and requires certain engineering solutions. Such plumbing equipment is quite expensive and requires exceptionally careful handling.

Changing the height of the washbasin on a pedestal ↑

The height of the sink on a pedestal initially has fixed parameters that are difficult to change. The base is installed on the floor, the washbasin itself is attached with brackets to the wall and additionally rests against the upper part of the “stem” of the “tulip”. This option is good because the siphon is completely hidden. By default, the sink area takes on an aesthetic appearance. Typically, the height of the side varies from 85 to 90 cm.

A professional sink placement scheme takes into account all the nuances, including the height of the siphon, washbasin, taps, and takes into account the dimensions of the plumbing fixtures

If you want to change the height of a “tulip” washbasin yourself, there are ways to solve this problem:

  • You can raise the sink above the factory size by increasing the pedestal with any “tulip” configuration.
  • Cut off part of the drain pipe, and shorten the sink stem using tools. Usually the pipe is made a little longer, so you can safely cut it and install the washbasin at the desired height. But this technique is used extremely rarely because it is unnecessary. Just know that it is possible if the design of the “stem” is simple enough and will not be disturbed by the cut.

Be sure to pay attention to the distance between the siphon and the drain. If the siphon is installed below the drain level, you may have serious problems in the future.

Calculation of the height of a wall-hung sink ↑

Wall-hung sinks are much more ergonomic. It is not difficult to select a siphon for them - the pipe always has a reserve length, and the excess part is simply cut off after taking the appropriate measurements.

For a long time, the optimal height for a washbasin was considered to be 86 cm; it was at this height that it was customary to install sinks in new houses. Research in recent years has shown that for most people this height is uncomfortable, and the optimal height is 94-105 cm.

If representatives of both sexes will use the washbasin, then the calculation is based on the basic anthropometric data of men and women: a comfortable height for women is 81-93 cm, for men - 94-102 cm. Based on these figures, you can calculate the average height of the sink - 86-93 cm. The children will have to put up the steps. Ready-made plastic step-stands for washbasins are available for sale in various colors and textures.

For children, the optimal washbasin height is 60 cm.

When installing two sinks in a bathroom, it is necessary to take into account not only the anthropometry of a person, but also the distance between the washbasins. Here, the distance between the elbows of two people and the ability to move around the bathroom without hindrance are also taken into account.

Sink with cabinet ↑

The sink with cabinet also has a fixed height, depending on the parameters of the furniture. Typically, manufacturers start from generally accepted standards. When buying a factory-made washbasin with a cabinet, take into account the height of all family members. Even a very beautiful washbasin will only cause you inconvenience if it is too high or, on the contrary, forces you to bend more than 75 degrees. This angle is considered critical for keeping the human body in a state of tilt for a long time.

When individually ordering bathroom furnishings, the manufacturer will take into account the wishes of customers, and the height of the sink from the floor will correspond to the technical specifications.

It is most convenient to vary the height of the wall-hung washbasin

Taking into account all the recommendations, you will be able to correctly calculate the installation height of the sink and provide comfortable conditions for using it for all family members.

What you need to know about the height of the mirror above the washbasin and the vanity cabinet ↑

Often the washbasin area is the definite “center of the universe” of the bathroom. In a small bathroom, where, as they say, you can’t turn around, the space under and above the sink is used as efficiently as possible.

The traditional companion of the washbasin is a mirror. This can be either a separate element or combined with a small cabinet for storing cosmetics and personal care products.

The height of the mirror above the sink is determined according to the following recommendations:

  • the distance from the floor should be 120-135 cm;
  • from the top edge of the washbasin - at least 20 cm;
  • a small mirror is placed at the person’s eye level (the average value is calculated taking into account the height of all family members and the optimal size is selected).

When developing a project, it is necessary to take into account the proportional ratio of the sizes of the washbasin and mirror

These requirements are completely justified. It is convenient for a person to see his reflection, straightening up to his full height. A small space between the top of the sink and the under-mirror shelf or bottom of the mirror is a sure way to constantly wipe away dried splatters from the glass surface.

Problem 1: It’s uncomfortable to wash If the length of the short wall of the bathroom is 160 cm or more, it is more logical to place the bath along it. With this arrangement, you will not only have a comfortable bathroom, but even an elongated rectangular bathroom will seem more proportional.

If the short wall is shorter than one and a half meters, then consider replacing the bathtub with a stall, or study the assortment of corner bathtub models (“petals” shaped like an avocado, as in the photo). Placing a bathtub along the long wall of a narrow room is not the best option.

Tip: A safe, ergonomic and comfortable bathroom is unthinkable without grab bars to help you get out of the bath. They are needed primarily in the bathrooms of apartments where elderly people or children live. It is convenient to place such a handrail at the waist level of the user standing in the bathtub: for a person of average height this is approximately 100 cm.

The standard installation height of the bathtub from the floor is 60 cm. The height of the bathtub from the floor is adjustable using the legs (slightly). The fact is that the installation height of the bathtub from the floor depends on the slope that needs to be arranged for drainage into the sewer.

Some older users prefer shower cabins to bathtubs, because the latter are more convenient to enter (no need to step over the high side). In these cases, we can recommend a bathtub model with a door.

Important dimensions: The height of the bathtub from the floor (from the bottom) to the ceiling is at least 200 cm. The height from the floor to the wall lamp is 150–180 cm.

It is believed that if there is no space for a bath, you need a cabin, and it can be organized in any area. In fact, this is “self-deception”: you can wash comfortably in a 90 cm font (pictured), the question is what kind it is. It’s the same with a shower stall: it will be possible to arrange it with a drain to the floor even on a “patch”, but in a cabin measuring less than 90 cm it will be inconvenient to wash. Installing a bathtub or cabin if there is not enough space - everyone decides for themselves.

Problem 2: Distance in front of the toilet For typical small-sized housing, this is a pressing issue: the toilet space is so small that, sitting on the toilet seat, you rest your head against the door. Is it possible to somehow increase the distance from the toilet to the door without remodeling by adding a hallway? Yes, but it all depends on your plans for renovation.

Find a Compact Toilet If you have a typical two-piece toilet and don't intend to combine it with a bathroom, consider replacing the toilet. The distance from the toilet to the wall with the riser depends on two factors - the dimensions of the model and the type of its outlet (the angle of attachment of the pipe with the riser). If you find the same monoblock, but with a seat of less depth, you will gain 5–7 cm. Sometimes this is critical.

Buy a different type of toilet. The treasured 10-15 cm can be gained by replacing one floor-standing toilet with another - with an upper tank.

Replacing a conventional toilet with a wall-hung one also gives a gain of a few centimeters “to the door” (the built-in cistern and installation are quite compact in a toilet cistern of standard depth).

Fact: Unfortunately, it is impossible to replace an old toilet with a new one “without any repairs at all” in a bathroom - it’s not like changing the faucet on the sink. The fact is that in typical bathrooms, the flooring was most often laid around the toilet foot. That is, if you replaced an old model with a new one (more convenient and compact), with a high probability you will get a “cement floor stain” in place of the gained centimeters. You'll have to re-tile the tiles.

Rotate the toilet If you have a combined bathroom and it’s inconvenient to use the toilet, try rotating it 45 degrees: install a traditional model at an angle or buy a special corner one (the tank is built into the corner). Due to the fact that the distance on the sides increases, fat people, for example, will be more comfortable using such a toilet (as opposed to a plumbing fixture “sandwiched” against the wall).

Move the toilet to another place in the bathroom If you are ready for a radical remodel of the bathroom, try to remove the toilet from the passage. Firstly, it’s psychologically more comfortable to use it. Secondly, it is more aesthetically pleasing - let a sink with a mirror or a bathtub be visible from the door.

Fact: In a combined bathroom, the minimum distance from the toilet to the bathtub should be 50 cm; 75 cm is considered optimal. If the required space cannot be carved out, it is advisable to think about replacing the bathtub with a shower (for example, with a drain to the floor, as in the photo).

Of course, the toilet is attached to the riser, and it is advisable not to move it far from its “native” location, otherwise it will be more difficult to maintain the required angle of inclination of the drain pipe (2 degrees). Otherwise, you will have to raise the floor level or hide the pipe in the wall, and the more bends the pipe has, the more likely the risk of blockage.

Therefore, sometimes it is easier to move the door - to shift the entrance relative to the toilet, than to change the position of the latter. Or, for example, replace the door: it used to be a swing door, but now it’s a sliding door (as in the photo), which can not be opened to its full width.

Important: The minimum distance from the toilet to the wall is 25 cm. Ideally, the toilet is placed 35–45 cm from any furniture, sink or wall - this will make it more convenient to use. Maintain the recommended distance from the toilet to the wall if you are going to change the position of the plumbing fixture.

Problem 3: Accessories around the toilet Use the arm's length principle to find the perfect seat. This mainly applies to the toilet paper holder - it should be placed 20–30 cm from the person sitting. The height of the wall-mounted paper holder is 60–70 cm from the floor and at a distance from the toilet 20–30 cm (for a floor-standing one). Of course, no one calls for placing accessories “on a tape measure” - the only question is at what distance to fix the mounted ones.

Your goal is not only the harmonious design of the space, but above all, convenience, that is, the availability of funds. But the concept of “convenience” is different for each person, and it is not as obvious as it might seem at first glance. I will illustrate this feature using the example of the interior in the following photo.

You can not only raise your hand to the hygienic watering can, but also lower it to the desired 20–30 cm from the seat. If you fix the holder at a height of 60–70 cm from the floor, and not in the baseboard area, its hose will not swirl under the toilet.

But if the user has problems with the cervicothoracic spine or hands, then it is extremely painful for him to bend and turn in any direction. That is, removing the “beautifully located” holder from the wall - at chest level of the person sitting - will be inconvenient, but bending over and reaching under the seat is quite easy.

Another option is to hang the hygiene shower holder on an adjacent wall (next to the toilet paper holder, like in this project). But if the distance from the toilet to the wall is the “classic” 35–45 cm, then you will have to stand up in an attempt to remove the hygienic shower from the adjacent wall, which is inconvenient. Whatever one may say, the hose under the toilet is the most reasonable scenario for such users.

Problem 4: Distance between the toilet and bidet If the bathrooms (photo) are large enough to install a bidet, the distance from the toilet to the bidet should also be 35–45 cm. But if when installing the toilet you can put up with the tightness and “press” it by 20 –25 cm, then this is impossible with a bidet. Why? It's all about the difference between female and male physiology. So, women sit on the bidet in two directions - facing the door and facing the “faucet”. In this latter case, at least 35–45 cm is required to separate the knees.

Advice: If the distance between the toilet and the bidet is less than necessary, I advise you not to install the latter - in this case it is better to buy a toilet with bidet functions. There are now many such models in both the budget and top segments.

Problem 5: It’s inconvenient to wash your face Water flows down your elbows, you can’t really bend over the sink in the bathroom, there’s splashes all over the countertop... Sound familiar? Let's talk about possible sources of "problems", starting with what height to hang the sink in the bathroom.

At what height should a bathroom sink be installed? The installation height of the sink and countertops in the bathroom is 80 to 110 cm, any figure in this range is acceptable. But if you look at furniture standards, the height of the washbasin in the bathroom (sink with cabinet) is 90 cm. It is advised to stick to the same height if you choose the composition “countertop and tabletop sink” - simply subtract the height of the latter and fix the tabletop at the missing 90 cm height. But if your height differs from the standard in any direction, then the question of what height the sink is installed in the bathroom cannot be approached in a stereotyped way.

Fact: Sometimes the height at which the bathroom sink (as well as the countertop) is installed is dictated not by the user’s height, but by the need to place the washing machine. This is a “headache” for owners of small bathrooms - the drain hose of the machine is hardly longer than one and a half meters, and the connection point with the drain pipe should be at a height of 70–90 cm from the floor. If there is a critical lack of space, mini-cars are placed under the bathroom sink. But my advice is that it’s better to send the “washing machine” to the kitchen or pantry (if you have one) than to install the sink at an inconvenient height.

Fact: In a bathroom, the sink can, in principle, be close to both the bathtub and the toilet. Sometimes a common movable tap is installed on the sink and bathtub in the old fashioned way for economy and ergonomics. However, according to the standard, the distance from the sink to the bathtub or other piece of furniture should be at least 30 cm, although this parameter is often neglected.

In numbers

The distance between the sink and the mirror in the bathroom, that is, from the washbasin to the wall, is at least 20 cm. You should not place the sink close to the mirror in the bathroom.

The distance from the shower or bath to the hangers and heated towel rail is 50–70 cm.

Shelves for towels or hooks should not be placed far from the bathtub, washbasin or shower stall: they should be easy to reach. For this we measure 60–70 cm. What the height will be depends on the accessory that will hold the towel. For example, it is better to place a shelf at a height of 140 cm from the floor, the height of the hooks in the bathroom (or bracket) is 160 cm from the floor. Do not forget that these parameters are optimal for an adult, but for a child it is better to buy a separate hook or a height-adjustable bracket that is convenient for the bathroom.

The shelf for toothbrushes is hung based on the height of the mirror and washbasin. It is advisable to leave 10–15 cm between them, and 30–40 cm between the sink and the shelf, so that it is convenient to wash.

A glass for toothbrushes, a soap dish or a liquid soap dispenser can also be placed on the wall near the mirror, on the sides of the glass shelf at a distance of 5–10 cm and a height of 95–110 cm.

Problem 6. Where to remove the bubbles? You can spend several months renovating a bathroom, and then “ruin” the design solution with tubes and bottles of shampoo. To ensure that storage systems do not violate the integrity of the internal volume of the bathroom, it is better to place them along the wall where the door is located, or to the side of it. Then those entering will be the last to see the bottles.

Tip: Pay attention to the design of the shampoo bottle as carefully as you would to the interior design. Buy neutral “jars” or solve the issue once and for all - buy dispensers that match the interior of the bathroom. All shampoos and conditioners can be poured into these containers (provided there are only a few of them). If your bathroom has two or three dozen care products, then you should not place them near the mirror or washbasin, but it is advisable to choose closed storage systems.

In small bathrooms, it is better to use comfortable wall cabinets (so as not to take up space on the floor) with a mirror on the doors (to expand the space of the bathroom).

Installation diagram of a sink or washbasin

Installation of any plumbing requires preliminary marking, which is mainly carried out by experienced professionals according to available diagrams or drawings. Having such installation diagrams for washbasins and sinks, you can easily and independently find out at what height the sink is installed in the bathroom, and also pre-mark the installation of the mixer. It is usually used both for the sink and for supplying water to the bathroom - it is very convenient, the main thing here is to correctly mark it and take into account all the features of the purchased plumbing fixtures.

How to properly install a sink in a bathroom?

If your sink or washbasin will be located away from the bathroom, then you should think in advance about which sink you should choose, and along with it the plumbing accessories. Reliable and durable fastening will then help to use the sink as comfortably as possible when all the features of the system are taken into account during installation. You will need to decide exactly at what height to install the sink in the bathroom, namely:

  • it is worth choosing the right height of the upper plane of the sink from the bathroom floor, which is usually equal to 75–95 cm;
  • accurately position the tap, which should be at a distance of approximately 16–18 cm from the top surface of the washbasin.
  • the edges of the sink should not intersect with the area of the bathroom so as not to interfere with water procedures.

All exact marking parameters can be viewed in detail online on the installation diagram. Based on it, it will be possible to ensure the correct installation of the sink or washbasin.

Features of installing a sink in a bathroom

Much will depend on whether the sink-cabinet will be installed or the washbasin will be mounted on a specially prepared pedestal, which will significantly free up space below and allow the entire installation to be completed quickly. You will be able to figure out at what height to hang the sink in the bathroom or mount it on a cabinet or countertop.

Do not forget that the parameters for the height of the sink from the floor in the bathroom, established by average standards, can be slightly adjusted. It is best to focus on the wishes of those regular users who will be more comfortable if you raise or, conversely, lower the structure of the installed plumbing by 10 cm.

When carrying out basic plumbing installation operations, you will have to correctly and securely attach the bases - this applies to the drain and siphon, as well as install the mixer. This will allow you to navigate the acceptable height of mounting the sink in the bathroom and, having the necessary tools and equipment, connect to the water supply and sewerage system.

In order not to make a mistake in the parameters of the installation height of the sink in the bathroom, it is also necessary to take into account the fact that children can also live in the apartment. Therefore, you will have to get as close as possible to acceptable parameters to make it convenient for the whole family to use the washbasin. Before hanging the structure, having decided at what height the sink is installed in the bathroom, it is recommended to make sure that the mounted brackets can withstand significant weight. Such actions will allow you to avoid failure of sanitary ceramics or products made on the basis of earthenware and porcelain.
