New Year is a holiday that every person looks forward to with hope for the best. Only on these cheerful days does the house transform, becoming like a fairy-tale tower in a forest clearing.
The whole family usually takes part in this activity, with children and mother making and hanging all sorts of interesting things, and dad leading the whole process.
Do-it-yourself New Year's home decoration becomes a great chance for everyone to be together. Or you can invite grandparents and have a big pre-holiday celebration.
Ideas for DIY New Year's decorations can be very diverse, as well as the materials used to implement them.
Materials for home decoration
The simplest and most used is paper. You will need white paper for snowflakes, colored paper for colorful crafts, and corrugated paper for fluffy garlands.
You may also need brushes and paints, threads and yarn, glue, fabric, cotton wool, toothpaste.
Interesting crafts for home decoration can be made from scrap materials: plastic bottles, unnecessary cans. Candy will also come in handy.
Necessary materials
In order to make a paper garland with your own hands, depending on the model, you may need the following materials:
- colored paper;
- colored and coated cardboard;
- foil cardboard;
- corrugated paper;
- paper napkins;
- glossy magazines;
- kraft paper;
- old newspapers;
- music notebooks;
- PVA glue;
- thin cotton threads;
- clothesline;
- ribbon;
- soft wire;
- scissors;
- an awl or hole punch (if you need to pierce holes);
- stapler;
- decor for scrapbooking;
- stationery knife.
The paper used to make the garland can be single-sided or double-sided. Scrapbooking paper looks beautiful in such crafts, often having a colorful pattern, which the simple colored variety does not have. In addition, paper garlands are often supplemented with beads, felt balls or cotton balls, decorated with foil on top. Some people like to decorate blanks with curly slots. For example, sometimes holes are made in elements using medium and large shaped hole punches.
By the way, such devices help save time on cutting out elements. For example, you can purchase a ready-made hole punch, which is easier to make even circles than spending time on it.
DIY paper Christmas decorations
Paper is the simplest material for creativity; even a small child can handle it.
Snowflakes, cards, New Year's collages, gift bags, garlands and much more are made from paper. It is used to decorate windows, doors, cabinets, and chandeliers.
Paper garland - glue it on!
This paper circle garland is quick and easy to make if you have a shaped hole punch, like the one in the picture below. If you don’t have such a hole punch, and you’re not eager to buy one, you’ll have to cut it out by hand. When the paper circles are cut out, coat one, place the base tape for the garland on top, coat it with glue again and place the second circle on top. This way you can assemble a garland of paper circles.
But this is a difficult option to implement, because it is not necessary to use the second circle. Thin decorative lace and glue should make friends:
There is no doubt, but let us remind you that a paper garland should be beautiful, so think about the combination of colors when purchasing paper
